How It Works

Standard modular bricks are 3-5/8 x 2-1/4 x 7-5/8 inches and require about 6.86 bricks per square foot with 3/8 inch mortar joints. Always order 5-10% extra for cuts, breakage, and future repairs. An 80-lb bag of Type S mortar lays about 140 modular bricks. For structural walls, use Type S or N mortar; for veneer above grade, Type N is acceptable. Running bond is the most common pattern. Always provide weep holes and flashing at the base of veneer walls.
