How It Works

Flagstone is sold by the ton or by the pallet. One ton of 1.5-inch thick flagstone covers about 90-100 sq ft. Thicker stones (2-3 inches) are better for driveways and high-traffic areas. For dry-laid flagstone, use a 1-inch sand bed over 4 inches of compacted gravel. For mortared flagstone, set on a 4-inch concrete slab. Joint filler options include polymeric sand, decomposed granite, or mortar. Irregular shapes have 10-15% waste from cutting; uniform cuts have 5-10%.
