How It Works

For a professional patio layout, start from the center and work outward to keep cut stones at the edges. Use a contrasting border color or size for visual appeal. Maintain consistent joint width with spacers. The base should slope 1/4 inch per foot away from the house for drainage. For a 16x12 foot patio, plan 4-6 inches of compacted gravel base, 1 inch of leveling sand, then stones, then polymeric sand to lock joints. A plate compactor sets everything firmly.
